Brother describes SA184 as an edge-joining foot for keeping fabric edges aligned while leaving room for open decorative stitches, including open-weave stitches. The centered blade is intended to follow the edge of the fabric, and reference marks help with alignment. Brother also describes using it to align and sew an edging such as lace to another fabric edge.

The list reflects Brother USA’s displayed entries. The page does not say it is exhaustive or establish UK or Canadian model aliases, later revisions, or package inclusion. A listed model relation does not provide stitch eligibility or prove physical needle clearance.
Check your exact machine#
Confirm the full model and suffix in Brother’s current accessory information and manual before purchase or sewing. The product page gives no installation sequence, specific stitch patterns, fabric limits, or needle-clearance procedure. Follow the exact manual and stop if the needle contacts the foot or plate. For other edge finishes, compare the overedge and rolled-hem guide; for general part and clearance checks, use the compatibility checklist.
