The Brother SA206 Dual Feed Quilting Guide is designed to work with the separate MuVit Dual Feed Foot, part SA196. The guide is not a standalone walking foot. Check the two part numbers, the machine list, and current regional availability before buying either item.
What Brother lists#
| Item | Brother-listed models or relation |
|---|---|
| SA206 quilting guide | VQ2400, VM5100, VQ3000, VM6200D, XV8550D, XV8500D |
| SA196 MuVit Dual Feed Foot | BQ2450, BQ3050, VQ2400, VM5100, VQ3000, VM6200D, XV8550D, XV8500D |
| SA206 included with SA196 | Brother’s SA206 page names XV8550D, XV8500D, VM6200D, VQ3000, and VQ2400 |
Compatibility and bundle contents are separate relations. VM5100 appears on the SA206 compatible-model list but not in the product page’s sentence naming models with SA196 included. Do not infer that the foot is in the box from guide compatibility.
Brother’s SA206 page describes adjustable left and right guides, each extending up to 2 3/8 inches from the center needle position. That is a guide-position range, not a machine stitch-width limit or a needle-clearance measurement.
Confirm availability and installation#
Brother’s SA196 product page currently displays a discontinued status, while the SA206 page describes the device as available separately. These product-page statements do not establish current stock, a replacement part, or availability in the USA, UK, and Canada. Confirm with Brother or an authorized dealer before purchasing.
The product pages do not give an installation or clearance procedure. Follow the manual for your exact machine and accessory, secure the attachment as directed, and check needle clearance by hand before powered sewing. Stop if anything touches or does not sit securely.
For the difference between a dual-feed guide and a walking or free-motion foot, see the quilting-foot setup guide. For broader part and regional checks, see the compatibility checklist.
