The JUKI HZL-DX manual gives separate twin-needle stitch lists for the DX5 and DX7. Both use the manual-listed 2.0 mm twin needle and a dedicated twin-needle mode. The manual also says to use thread smaller than No. 60; that number is the manual’s own thread notation, not a cross-brand conversion.
| Stitch group | HZL-DX5 | HZL-DX7 |
|---|---|---|
| Direct selection | 1, 4, 5, 9 | 1, 4, 5, 9 |
| Practical | 01–06 | 01–06, 16, 17 |
| Quilting | 03 | 03 |
| Decorative 2 | 72–78 | 53–60 |
Choose only a pattern listed for the exact model and engage twin-needle mode before sewing. JUKI notes that the sewing speed becomes slower in this mode. The right-hand thread omits guide G, and the two needles are threaded separately. The automatic needle threader and thread trimmer are unavailable while using a twin needle.

Turn the machine off before changing the needle. Use the model-specific 2.0 mm assembly, the appropriate foot and an eligible stitch, then follow the manual’s threading and test-sewing instructions. Check the needle path by hand before powering the machine. The pattern list, thread limit, and unavailable functions apply to the HZL-DX5 and HZL-DX7 manual only; they are not settings for other JUKI HZL models.
For the general distinction between twin-needle spacing, stitch width, and physical clearance, see the twin-needle hem guide.
