Brother’s current support answer lists the CS7000X among the models covered for a needle bar that does not move up and down. These are first checks, not a diagnosis of the machine’s internal condition. Stop if the handwheel is hard to turn; do not force it to move.
Use the listed checks in order#
- Turn the machine off and unplug it from the power source.
- Check that the bobbin-winder lever is in the left sewing position.
- From the front of the machine, turn the handwheel toward you and check whether it turns freely. Stop if it feels hard to turn or catches.
- Check for thread tangled around the bobbin. Remove a tangle and clean the area only as the CS7000X manual permits.
- If the bobbin case was removed, confirm it is seated correctly in the race using the model manual.
These checks address machine state and a visible thread tangle; they do not show whether timing, the hook, or another internal part is damaged. Do not reach into the machine while it is powered, pry a part loose, or take the machine apart to look for a cause.
Stop for service if movement does not return#
If the needle bar still does not move after the safe checks, Brother directs the owner to an Authorized Service Center. Use the same service boundary if there is continuing resistance, a jam that cannot be cleared as the manual directs, or damage after a needle strike.
If the machine is not moving because it does not start at all, check the separate CS7000X no-sew checklist. If the needle broke and a fragment fell into the bobbin area, the broken-needle retrieval guide applies only to the models listed by its Brother support source; it does not list the CS7000X.
