The English BERNINA 880 manual lists a 130/705 H-DRI/80 triple needle with 3.0 mm spacing for straight stitching, topstitching, visible stretch-fabric hems, and decorative sewing. These details apply to the B880 and the cited 2014-02 manual; verify the edition for your machine and market.
Select the needle and plate in the Security Program#
Choose the triple-needle setting and the installed stitch plate in the B880 Security Program. The machine then limits stitch width automatically; the manual says to update the selected plate when it is changed. If a needle and plate combination is unsuitable for a pattern, the machine displays an animation and will not start. This control is specific to the B880. It gives no numeric width setting for use on another model and does not replace choosing the correct foot and plate.
Route three upper threads#
Place one spool on each spool pin and use the matching telescopic-rod guides. The manual routes the rear and center spool threads behind the thread-tension disc and the front spool thread in front of it. Follow the B880 manual’s diagrams for the exact spool positions. It gives no triple-needle thread-weight, tension, speed, or layer limit. Test the authorized stitch on the intended fabric and stop if the needle contacts the foot or plate. For the B880’s separate specialty-thread feed aids, see the thread-guide reference.
